Riq Tar-Rine Lotus Riq Tar-Rine Lotus
Remo signature artist Layne Redmond designed these tambourines, based on traditional instruments but with Remo's modern touches including Acousticon synthetic shells with a lightly stained maple veneer shell, blue aqua finish and Fiberskyn heads that are unaffected by weather.

Lotus Tambourine

Featuring lighter jingles and a larger diameter than the traditional Riq, this new style of tambourine offers a larger sound and more adaptability for contemporary ensembles. The Lotus Tambourine is a cross between Middle Eastern and Western orchestral tambourines and features an internal hand grip and five sets of German silver jingles. This is the lightest and easiest of the Layne Redmond tambourines to play. Recommended for beginners through professionals. This is the tambourine Layne performs and records with most often. It is also the tambourine in the recent Stevie Nick's Style Icon spread!!

Tar-Rine

A combination of the traditional North African tar and the tambourine, the Tar-Rine, designed by Layne Redmond, lends itself to many drum techniques from around the world. This frame drum can be held like a Tar or Riq, or played on the knee in sitting position. Features five sets of very light German silver jingles. It is larger in diameter (12 inches) than the Lotus or Riq. The Tar-Rine offers nearly unlimited rhythmic possibilities and a uniquely expressive, musical tone. It can be played with the fingers, the flat or your hand, with one hand or two - the possibilities are as vast as your imagination! Acousticon shell with pretuned fiberskyn head.

Remo signature artist Layne Redmond designed this tambourine, based on traditional instruments but with Remo's modern touches including Acousticon synthetic shells and the Fiberskyn® 3 pre-tuned drumheads that are unaffected by weather. Riq- 2-5/8 inches by 9 inches. Pretuned to a very high pitch, with 5 double rows of heavy brass jingles for a lively and vibrant sound. Ideal for Middle Eastern music. This is the heaviest of the three tambourines that Layne designed for Remo. It also has the highest pitched and tightest head make it a more challenging drum to play. Recommended for professional or experienced players. Not recommended for beginners.
